Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) cooperative technology is one of the V2X technologies that play an increasing role in informing connected vehicles about speed, traffic warnings, the time-to-red, time-to-green of traffic lights, etc. As Singapore moves forward to improve the future traffic management system, the efficacy of Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) beacons have been tested and deployed at various places in Singapore.Â
DSRC is a highly secure, high-speed two-way short-to-medium-range wireless communication function used between vehicles and infrastructure. Robust in the face of radio interference and interference from distant sources, it permits very high data transmission critical in communications-based active road safety applications which brings about increased safety and improved adjustability. Â
The system also provides real time notifications, backend data and reports, which also facilitate better reaction timings, reporting efficiency, and trend analysis, consequently reducing the need for laborious physical monitoring. Â
