Project Overview

The Land Transport Authority launches the Taxi Information System (TIS), an integrated system developed by ATT Systems Group and ATT TraffiComms to capture passenger queue and average waiting time information with the intention to reduce Singaporeans’ taxi waiting time.

The system is currently implemented and undergoing testing at HarbourFront Centre, Hitachi Tower, Keck Seng Tower, Lucky Plaza, Ngee Ann City, OG People’s Park and VivoCity. A high-tech system comprising of cameras and heat sensors is installed at these taxi stands to help reduce Singaporeans’ long wait for taxis.

The backend system’s server will send out SMS alerts to all six local taxi companies to inform them to dispatch more taxis to the locations with 15 or more commuters queuing for taxis or when average waiting time exceeds 15 minutes.

In addition, commuters can view video screenshots of the queues at these locations at or through MyTransport.SG mobile phone application. This helps commuters to avoid taxi stands with long queues.
